Based on The Novella “Carmilla” By: Sheridan Le Fanu

Cast: Simon Andreu, Maribel Martin, Alexandra Bastedo, Rosa Rodriguez A young husband's sexual fantasies frighten his new wife and cause her to seek advice from Carmilla, a descendent of Mircalla de Karnstein. Carmilla seduces the young bride and forces her to commit gory acts of mutilation.
This feels more like a gothic fairytale then the horrors the title might suggest. Though the story eventually goes into the super natural.
This film is highly sexual and eroticized in the beginning. Which only heightens the thrill of suspense. As it feels like you are being lured in and seduced into this danger.
It might be as a result of the film taking place in one location that is voluminous but makes the story feel smaller.
The film is a tragedy of sorts that starts off one way making you believe the lead will be the victim of all of this. the males making her one but it seems like everyone essentially becomes a victim of some sort in this folklore.
The film could be seen as homophobic as all the Men eventually seek to kill and destroy the women. Who now seem to be Together as a team with one another as even in the end they sleep together. As the film comes off romantic and misogynistic at times. Though the film tries to rectify this radical Ideal at the time.
As we watch the ladies be all over one another biting, kissing and mating, Also as a tale of an affair. As the wife is seduced and seems to become obsessed and possessed by her. As she has to choose between her husband and Carmella the spirit. Even though it seems her husband is fighting for her and Carmella seem to get her effortlessly.
As it seems like being heterosexual for her is despair and sickness though at first enjoyable. As intimacy seems new yet feels relieved and cured after going off with Carmella.
As everyone eventually seems to recognize Carmella as a supernatural force, but treat it rather calmly and sedate, yet never try to leave the scene. Though Carmella seems to be a females cursed phantom of the past who seems to possess female family brides.
Not to mention the many attempts on her husband’s life seem to him More annoying than dangerous.
The film offers plenty of nudity. Which added along with the moaning during the biting and piercing if each other’s flesh. Domination which she has been to her husband early onto another domiantor only this Time female and against him.
Done or reborn in as flesh and blood. and discovered on the beach Yet sleeps like in a coffin, but works as a teacher though everyone knows each other’s plans yet never discuss them.
This ends up being an otherworldly vampire/ghost story. Like the film LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH. Unknowing vampire tales ecstasy of the otherworldly yet consider it love yet their love is based on hate of a man. So that these films come off as anti-male. Even though Directed by males.
