  1. Jeff:
Glad you liked Live and Let Die. Surprised you were not bothered by the racism. It is a fun film in a guilty pleasure sort of way. Also happy you are watching the classic Bond films for the first time. 6/10 for For Your Eyes Only doesn't sound good. You must have not liked it.

So these are the Bond films you have yet to watch in June?

    You Only Live Twice
    Moonraker
    Never Say Never Again
    The Living Daylights
    Licence To Kill

  2. It didn't bother me as to me it more played comedic, as it felt more like a James bond film mixed with blaxploitation.Plus the ever fetching Jan Seymour is delcious. Then you have the sheriff straight out of Dukes of Hazzard. So the film felt like the most fun James Bond film. That list is correct, though their is no time limit. Though i do have to see the brosnan-bond and still have to rewatch, Octopussy and View to a kill.

  3. Licence To Kill is the gory one of the series, at least the uncut version, which is the one you will probably see. The most notable is the Scanners/Cronenberg rip-off scene in which a guy literally gets his head burst open, just like in Scanners. It is one of those sleazy 80s action films like Death Wish 2, or any of those films staring Charles Bronson or Chuck Norris; especially cannon films. The plot is pretty much lifted out of Death Wish where you have a hero who goes against the law to become a vigilante. They could have just removed Dalton, cast Bronson, and called it Death Wish 5 and it would have made no difference.

You Only Live Twice (the best on that list I posted) is Connery's Japanese film. It is the 60s The Spy Who Loved Me, but a lot better. It stars the two Japanese actresses from Woody Allen's What's Up Tiger Lily. It is now considered the film that inspired Austin Powers. The Austin Powers series, although makes jokes about all Bond films, mostly are copied from YOLT.

Never Say Never Again, as you must already know, is a remake of Thunderball, but in some ways, it is better. The villain is memorable.

The Living Daylights is the last of the Cold War Bonds. It is ok. Has some good action scenes and the plot is interesting at times. The problem is that the cast/characters suck. Perhaps the weakest cast in the series.

Moonraker is fun as a guilty pleasure. I will admit to being a fan. And yes Jeff, it does indeed have a space battle with lazer guns. I'm not making that up. The problem is that Han Solo is missing from these scenes. We could have used him.
