Alice awakens from a terrible sleep to find her worst fears realized--the bloodthirsty Undead, which she and the now-annihilated squad of elite military fought to destroy, have been unleashed on the city that surrounds the secret facility of the Umbrella Corporation. Discovering she was an Umbrella experiment, Alice has been bio-genetically enhanced with new strengths, senses and dexterity--and she will need them. In the heart of the ravaged Raccoon City, a small group of uninfected people, including Jill Valentine, a recently demoted member of Umbrella Corp's elite Special Tactics and Rescue Services team, and S.T.A.R.S team leader Carlos Oliveira, fight for their lives against swarms of Undead and the deadlier and faster Lickers. Running out of luck and resources, the group is rescued by Alice, and they begin to wage an exhilarating battle to survive and escape before the Umbrella Corporation erases its experiment from the face of the earth. Their only hope lies somewhere within

Other wise know as the second resident evil film. Each Sequel like the video game series gets a surname to set it apart though it is usually a new chapter in the overall series that gets more and more ridiculous though some sequels stand apart and are noteworthy on their own. Sadly this is not one of them. I can’t really tell because if I was just royally disappointed thinking this would be something as good and clearly wasn’t or if I had seen this film without seeing and liking the first one would i just think the film is really bad?

The first trailer released for this movie (which was directed by Marcus Nispel ) featured an ad run by the 'Umbrella Corporation' advertising a skin-regeneration product using a special formula called T-cells. In the movies and video games, the virus responsible for zombie mutations is called the T-virus. All the footage in the advert was either shot specially for the advert or from the original film. There was no footage from the film in this advertising

Aside from archive footage from the first film featuring shots of Eric Mabius, the only person to return after the previous film is Milla Jovovich.

The movie uses elements of the plots of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Paul W.S. Anderson first started writing the screenplay almost immediately after completing the first film.

The Special effects and big budget bluster Don’t save this film. Maybe it’s the opening up of the world was a bit too much and not handled all that well before we are just introduced toit and left to ourselves to figure it out through characters we aren’t familiar with and don’t know if we should follow as they could perish and leave us stranded once again

I wish I could say more of the same but Paul WS. Anderson only returns in script form though Milla Jovovich does return to star finally appearing in the film after half of the movie has gone by. When she does arrive she is virtually a female terminator nothing can stop her. No task too big. She can do the impossible. As she faces he umbrella corporation and their next project from the end of the first film. Which unfortunately takes all the suspense out of the proceedings as we know she will persevere we just have to watch how and how long it will take. She seems to be the savior

As the first half of the movie play fast and loose with a cynical dark horror edge of a city under siege with a replacement heir played by sienna guillory as Jill Valentine a cop who teams up with soldiers also trapped I. Raccoon city which is being quarantined to keep the zombies and the plague from spreading. Their only hope is a scientist who works for the umbrella corporation. Whose daughter is stuck back in the city of they can find her within a certain amount of time he will save them.

So the beginning of the film plays like a slightly different version of the First film with more open space for action. It's nice being introduced to new characters but this time around we in the audience are the wiser and not discovering things like in the first film. So it seems more of the same and doesn't grab you like the first film.

The original plan was for Jill Valentine to meet up with Alice. However, this idea was scrapped as Paul W.S. Anderson wanted to have two separate stories occurring at the same time.

Natasha Henstridge was asked to play the role of Jill Valentine, but could not accept due to other work commitments.

Soon as Milla shows up Sienna Guillory is just another part of the group losing leader status. The first half of the movie seemed to build her up then the second half let's her down to just become a schlub. Not knowing what to do just like a side Character she seems to lose her confidence. I guess they make her character feel intimidated.

Watching the movie the stunts are spectacular, but don't inspire any awe or amazement they just seem basic and just to lay there.

This movie is just like a video game again the set up, the obstacles, but the problem of making a video game movie is sticking too close to the source material and not making the film it's own. So watching the movie is like watching someone else play the video game like on demo to show you the levels and the right way to play. Though an experience not exciting at all. There are no surprises no character asserts themselves that you would really care if they live or die. In fact you probably wish most of them would die.

Cheesy cheap moments abound like In the ending fight, the words "Finish him" are used, this is straight from the Mortal Kombat games, Paul W.S. Anderson also Directed the Mortal Kombat movie.

If that wasn’t bad enough they also include Mike Epps among the cast. One of my least favorite on screen presences in films.

This film is just a major disappointment.
