Jessie and Angela, high school dropout BFFs, are taking a week off to chill at the beach. Too bad their house got robbed, rent's due, they're about to get fired, and they're broke. Now they've gotta avoid eviction, stay out of jail and get to the beach, no matter what.
This is the equivalent of a teenage buddy comedy with stoners at it’s center. Onto with girls instead of guys at it’s center. It’s just as juvenile and lowbrow at times, but while sex is discussed The is film doesn’t focus on it or any of the characters seeking it or hooking up or finding love. If anything it just illustrates the strength and rhythm of the two female main characters friendship.
The film is fairly easy going a look into these characters lives. As the comedy is more character based. It has a laid back approach where situations happen. Not so much plot oriented.
It’s nice to see a female stoner buddy comedy that doesn’t depend on them separating into to come together in the end. Nor does it focus on romance or sex. Instead it is just the misadventures of these two young ladies who every time they try to make a right decisions are either easily distracted or fall into some dilemma that either makes things worse or presents even more of a challenge to their simple tasks.
This film wouldn’t succeed without the likability and charisma Of the cast. Who are all Likes or and even if they are screw-up’s you can’t help but like them or at least laugh at their behavior.
This isn’t a film you look at for it’s Technical achievements or the strength of the filmmaking. Even though you must give credit. As you hardly ever notice the filmmaking and can easily follow the film. Even as it is impressively polished.
Like the movie THIRTEEN as you watch the hijinks and constantly have to remind yourself that these characters are basically so young.
When by their behavior they act young but still seem a little older but once you remind yourself of their ages maybe they make all the more sense.
Waited for this film for a bit. Wanted to see in theaters but blinked and it was gone. Can’t say it has much of a story but it is something fun to watch and is silly. So easily instantly rewatchable. Nice to watch a female driven comedy that is just as silly and raunchy at times as male centered ones.
This is a pretty simple movie and a really good time watch. As it’s not a movie that asks you to think too much just experience more or less. This is a film that needs to be seen more and I am sure will find it’s audience and be appreciated years after... hopefully
