When a border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers are tasked with establishing a Highway Patrol station in the disputed area.

This film is the epitome of a sequel. As there is a very thin plot and less characterization.

The first film was a kind of surprise. It gained an audience and became a kind of cult comedy. This film serves more or less the same. As it is funny, but more random. Especially when it introduces some Gags and leaves them hanging out to dry. Like Jay Chandrasekhar's character sudden mustache hair loss and Officer Favre ‘s Canadian double.

As in the first film each character had something to strive for as well as introducing us to their character type. Not to mention the film while not plot heavy at least had one to explain half of the situations and hijinks. Here half the situations just seem to happen and it seems this film gives each individual member equal time to be on screen and have some kind of significance. There is even a romance again. As well as set-up for some kind of I code t that got them canned and in trouble.

Though you kind of wish there was room for other characters to get their chance to spread and have more screen time. Like Rob Lowe playing he mayor of the town they are governing. which leaves the film finds room for plenty of Canada jokes. That one is surprised that this film wasn’t made by modern Kevin Smith. Though this film isn’t as Canadian specific as some of his productions are.

The filmmaking is serviceable to the Material but there is nothing special about the production or directing.

The Canadian Mounties played by Tyler LaBine, Will Sasso and Hayes MacArthur are funny themselves and get their own screen time. Though it is a bit hard to get your heads around their characters.

The film plays more to the fans of the first film brining up past jokes and pushing them Further and bigger. Though will still be understandable for audience members new to the franchise. At least it doesn’t feel like loose sketches tied together with a single plot.

Which makes sense as some of the budget was helped along by crowdfunding. Which was mostly from fans of the first film. As well as broken lizard’s other films such as CLUB DREAD, THE BABYMAKERS, BEERFEST and THE DUKES OF HAZARD. also being so Close to the fans I am sure they had some communication to know more or less what their audience craved in a sequel.

This film has a built in audience that will enjoy the film as a worthy sequel or in the groups humor. Though the film is still wacky it also shows the characters and group growing up to a certain degree.

Grade: C+
