Following the events of Alien vs. Predator, and the maturation of the chest burster that erupted from the body of Scar (the Predator that defeated the Alien Queen) into an adult Predalien, the Predator scout ship crashes in the woods of Gunnison County. A local, Buddy Benson, and his son, Sam, are hunting in the forest and witness the crash, but they are chased and are implanted with alien embryos by facehuggers along with several homeless people living in the sewers. Meanwhile another Predator lands seeking out the Alien and destroying evidence of their presence on Earth. The dwellers of the town find themselves in the middle of a battlefield between the two deadly extraterrestrial creatures, and the small group of survivors splits between the leadership of Sheriff Eddie Morales and the bad-boy Dallas Howard. Both have different opinions about the best means to escape from the beings.
This should be titled Aliens versus A predator. As there is only one predator in this whole move against all the aliens that they can produce on earth.
I guess you can count the humans as some sort of help against the many aliens. As they really have no choice. You shouldn’t be surprised because if you count the first two PREDATOR movies. They have always just really had one predator battling against the enemies or prey. Which were usually humans. As the predator is a hunter above all else. They rarely work in groups. In this film and the previous they are the better as far as humanity goes of the two evils.
This movie is about as cliche ridden as you would expect. At least the first film had a bunch of character actors and single star power. This film barely has any recognizable actors unless you are a fan of RESCUE ME, the television show.
Compared to the first film. This film is more pedestrian compared to the first films more intellectual science fiction approach.
The only things saving this film from being a total failure is the unexpected death of a major character. Which goes to show this film has a more dark heart at it’s center. Especially the reproducing scene at the hospital. One of the most mean spirited scenes I have ever seen in a film. And the fact that the filmmakers rely on old school practical special effects. Instead of the usual animated false looking CGI.
Though obviously money was spent on this film. It still carries the aura of a quick cash in. That should have gone straight to DVD, but I am guessing the producers spent too much money and wanted to try it out to recoup their money with hopefully a quick cash in. When there wasn’t too much competition or anything new really coming out. This film is the equivalent of watching a low budget syfy channel movie.
Another reason why this move sucks in my mind is that not only was it disappointing, but me and a friend almost got into a physical fight over it, though not with one another but a group of other movie patrons. So that this was one of the worst movie going experiences ever.
All this plus we didn’t even pay for it and still insist the film is a waste of time. Unless you are a really big fan of the first one.
