In San Cazador, California, the clumsy vampire hunter Edgar Frog is evicted from his trailer. But the best-seller writer Gwen Lieber offers him a job to destroy the head vampire DJ X that promotes worldwide raves to increase his army of undead. Gwen tells that her brother Peter disappeared in Ibiza two years ago in an X-Party promoted by the alpha-vampire. Now DJ X is coming to San Cazador to promote a sacrifice during a party in the blood moon on the next Friday, and Edgar discovers that the rave will take place in a slaughterhouse on an island. Gwen hires also the Hollywood participant of reality show Lars von Goetz that comes with the cameraman Claus. Edgar invites his brother Alan to join the team but he declines, and he teams up with his friend Zoe. When the group finds DJ X, Edgar discloses a secret about the head-vampire.

This film is certainly better Than the devious straight to home video sequel that seemed to spend too much time being an homage to the original while also trying to be a reboot to the series.

This film seems like it has a Lower budget and not so much creativity. It has the connection and formula for a reboot. While also borrowing from the original. That could have easily been an original script that heavily borrows from THE LOST BOYS, but instead decides to do the proper thing and be part of the series.

The last film seemed to fail in part because it sought to live up to expectations. While making it accessible to a new generation. Though it repeated similar story elements of the original. It essentially tried to be all things to all people. Also it tried to be a next generation movie of sorts and cast young WB type teen stars as the main cast. While also trying to have some action but playing more like a gruesome horror vigilante movie.

It also makes it seems part of a seduction storyline. Keeping a dangerous sexual romance that gets too way out of control.

This film seems to have more of a sense of humor about itself. While being tongue In cheek. It's a step in the right direction. Though still needs a lot of improvement. As it is scary when it needs to and also gruesome when it needs to be. Going at least it comes off a bit more campy and b-movie type.

One of this film's mistakes is spending time setting up a character only to dispatch them quickly. While it is funny and shocks the audience. It also feels like a waste of time. Which is what half the scenes in this film feel like.

It has a pretty solid story for a film of this type. Yet it feels the only person pushing for this film is Corey Feldman (and me a little bit) as he is more the main protagonist in this film.

This film certainly has more action in it and stays lively and seems to be filled more with eye candy this time around in female form.

One would characterize this film as a guilty pleasure. Especially as a fan of the original movie. I like Seeing the further adventures of The Frog Brothers. Though I have seen them better rendered In Graphic novel form. Which was all about them. No sign of the fun and absurdity here as much.

One can't really defend the film and call it good or well made, but I enjoyed it for what it was. It's a film filled with characters that have a lot of potential, but with the right amount of time, polish and work. This could have been something actually worth while... like a low budget graphic novel.

The opening in which Alan and Edgar are battling vampires in the White House is directly taken from the comic book series Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs. However, in the comics it is revealed the entire story is a fabrication from Edgar whilst in this film it seems true.

The final installment of original The Lost Boys Trilogy. This film was supposed to have a follow-up trilogy featuring The Frog Brothers fighting off werewolves and a TV Series all of which Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander were to return. However, Warner Premiere, the studio behind the latter two sequels, went bust and all The Lost Boys franchise plans were dropped.

Grade: D+
