At first I didn't drink the look-aid I remember her from the film MANNY & LO so watching her blossom into her looks and career I was happy for her, but didn't feel she was particularly memorable in her roles. Just a familiar face happy to see her working, partly the reason I saw the film 8 LEGGED FREAKS in the theater (that i worked out) seeing her graduate to GHOST WORLD was a major step and though I enjoyed LOST IN TRANSLATION immensely. She held her own on screen with Bill Murray, but I wasn't as impressed as other critics. Noticeably the male ones in particular. Maybe as I was used to her so she wasn't a newcomer as much as a bit player getting a leading role, finally a chance to let her skills shine. He critics though I felt were more entranced with her youth, beauty and vivaciousness rather then her acting skills. As those precious things they more noted then the later. As it seemed they tripped all over themselves with praise over the years. She became a Femme Fatale the world's sexiest women, but I never quite drank the look-aid. Maybe it was watching her grow up on screen. Unjust never found her sexy, but then again i am late to the party in many trends. So it has only been more recently around the times of the films MATCH POINT that i finally saw it and fell for her. Luckily she has as much talent as beauty. She would be perfectly cast in a film noirish role, like THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE. It seems in roles where she is supposed to be the sexpot. It doesn't work or she is used wrong THE BLACK DAHLIA which has more problems then just the misuse of her. it's another performance that suffers from her looking too young for the roles requirements.

For awhile she seemed to be another Woody Allen muse which allowed her to show some range and be more intellectual as well as comedic

Finally allowing her to seem more mature as for awhile there to me she seemed like she was too young to play the roles she was given. So that half the time she seemed more to be playing dress up. She also seemed to be used like a peacock on screen her roles seemed to more be her standing around being quiet. Though men desiring her for her innocent beauty and most of her scenes her looking at the men and tilting her head always quizzical and letting them talk, teach and romance her. She came off like a pretty bird and had the behavior it seemed if one while also occasionally getting to talk.

She finally literally not only grew into her roles. She seems to have more understanding and control of her characters and playing to them and her own strengths as well as giving them a sexiness and depth
