BRIGSBY BEAR

This movie came from nowhere. It shouldn't be as moving as it is. It reminds you of the camraderie that can happen when working and beliving in something and being passionate about something

DETROIT

IT

I, TONYA

This movie I wanted to like more than I did. There just seemed to be something missing to push it over the top. Also while I love Alison Janney she is lien Meryl Streep is such a consummate and great actress that when she knocks a role out they aren't surprises or might not even notice how good she is. It’s the same thing with Frances McDormand she has always played such strong willed tough characters. That of course she seems a natural for her role in THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE OF EBBING MISSOURI. Doesn’t. Mean they don’t deserve the accolades. They are just that good

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

BLADE RUNNER 2049

FREE FIRE

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER

COLOSSAL

THE WORST
Dishonorable mention

VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS

 And Finally...

MY BEST/FAVORITE OF THE YEAR

20.  THE TRANSFIGURATION

19. SPLIT

18. MUDBOUND

17.  A GHOST STORY

16.  SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

In a year full of superhero movies this one Stood out. As it most reminds one of the comic book and remembering that spider-man is at heart a teenager who is still learning and going through many personal problems. It’s serious when it needs to be with serious threats, but is also funny when it needs to be. It also allows for some thorns how villains can not be totally evil and sometimes operate out of necessity and just get greedy. Most of all this movie is just plain old fun.

15.  GIRL’S TRIP

The funniest movie i saw all year. I laughed from beginning to end and saw the birth of Tiffany Haddish as a star.

14. THE SHAPE OF WATER

13.  LOGAN

12. GOOD TIME

11. WIND RIVER

A late entry. This is a machismo movie that plays like a western but with a thriller element. That has plenty of dramatic moments as well as having a fish out of water tale. Jeremy Renner is obviously a good actor. It just makes you wonder why can’t his action roles In Other films feel this memorable and stoic. As he is believable yet not the most charismatic.

10.  THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE OF EBBING ILLINOIS

A moving come back after SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS. Though writer director Martin McDonagh proves he can create a tale just as sting and sharp as his dialogue.

9.  JIM & ANDY – THE GREAT BEYOND FEATURING A VERY SPECIAL CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED MENTION OF TONY CLIFTON

I don’t know this Hollywood type of documentary is more behind the scenes and shocking but surprisingly spiritual. Helping to understand and shape the spirituality of what Jim Carrey seems to be going through. It feels catchy watching this.

8. CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

7.  THE FLORIDA PROJECT

6. LADYBIRD

5. BABY DRIVER

4. GET OUT

This film made it through most of they year at the top of the list. While it might not be #1 it is probably the one I can identify with the most.

3.  DUNKIRK

2. THE LURE

1.  MY LIFE AS ZUCCHINI

It is rare an animated film makes my list and at number one especially. So for it to gain that position it is unusual. Which shows how unorthodox it is. As it is animated and revolves around children but deals with more adult matters. That becomes so emotional and powerful. It’s hard to believe what is achieved.
